EU with other sanctions against Iran

EU with other sanctions against Iran

European Union foreign ministers meet on October 14 to discuss the escalating conflict in the Middle East and the bloc's efforts to support Ukraine, which is facing a Russian-led invasion, despite the issue there is resistance from Hungary.

The EU plans to hit Russian actors and organizations accused of destabilizing Moldova's democracy and security with new sanctions before Moldova holds a key referendum later this month on membership of the bloc.

The bloc also wants to punish Iran for supplying Russia with ballistic missiles, which Moscow uses against Ukraine.

The EU sanctions will be adopted on October 14 and will target companies and individuals involved in Iran's ballistic missile program, and the delivery of these and other weapons to Russia.

Russia has launched an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and the European Union, along with other countries, is helping Kiev financially and with military equipment, with the aim of defeating Russian forces./REL
