The FBI searches President Biden's home in Delaware

The FBI has raided US President Joe Biden's Delaware home as part of an investigation into classified documents, his lawyer says.

In a statement, Biden's attorney said the search was "planned" with the president's "full support."

CBS has reported that the investigation is part of a broader investigation into the handling of classified documents.

The FBI has not commented on the search.

As the search was consensual, no search warrant was sought. Mr Biden's lawyer, Bob Bauer, said the search was carried out "without prior public notice" in the interest of "operational security and integrity".

The search is the latest in a series conducted at various locations, following the discovery of classified documents at the Penn Biden Center - an officer's facility - in Washington DC in November.

Additional documents were discovered at Mr. Biden's home in Delaware in subsequent searches conducted in December and January.

Mr Biden has said his team did "what they had to do" and was "fully and fully cooperating" with the investigation.
