Ukrainian journalist found dead in her apartment in Pristina

Sad news has arrived from Pristina, where Ukrainian journalist Olga Priadko has been found dead in her apartment. Priadko, 51, had been living in Kosovo for more than two years with her son, Yaroslav, as part of the “Journalists in Residence – Kosovo” program, an initiative to support journalists affected by the war in Ukraine.

The Association of Kosovo Journalists (AGK) and the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) have expressed their deep condolences for her loss, appreciating the dedication and professionalism she showed throughout her career.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti also reacted to this tragic event, remembering the strength and courage of the Ukrainian journalist. "We were saddened by the news of the passing of journalist Olha Priadko. She and her son, Yaroslav, found refuge in Kosovo to escape the tragedy of the war in Ukraine. On this day full of pain, our thoughts and hearts are with little Yaroslav, Olha's family and friends," Kurti wrote in a message on Facebook.

Priadko was a professional journalist and devoted mother who defied life's hardships by building a new future in a foreign country. The news of her passing has shocked the media community and beyond, leaving a deep void.

Her family, friends, and colleagues will always remember her contribution to journalism and her strength to face life's challenges.
