China sends fighter jets over Taiwan's airspace

Taiwan has said 19 Chinese military planes flew into its air defense zone. Taipei has been complaining for more than a year about China Air Force repeated missions near the island.

China sees democratic Taiwan as a breakaway province, but Taiwan sees itself as a sovereign state. Taiwan's Ministry of Defense said Sunday's mission by the Chinese air force included four H-6 bombs, which could carry nuclear weapons, as well as an anti-submarine aircraft.

An air defense identification area is an area outside the territory of a country and national airspace, but where foreign aircraft are still identified, monitored and controlled in the interest of national security.

China has not yet made any official comment. Beijing often launches such missions to express dissatisfaction with comments made by Taiwan. In June, he sent 28 military aircraft to ADIZ - the largest incursion reported from Taiwan to date.
