Saranda/ 48-year-old man robs store and attempts to rape saleswoman

A serious incident has been recorded in the city of Saranda, where a person has been declared wanted by the police, after allegedly robbing a store and then attempting to have sexual intercourse with the saleswoman.

The suspected perpetrator is citizen Jorgo Kumaraku, 48 years old, who, according to the police, entered a store in neighborhood no. 2 of the city and, under the threat of a knife, managed to rob the seller, a 26-year-old woman, of an amount of 60 thousand lek.

The incident took place yesterday, and authorities say the girl also suffered physical injuries as a result of the violence during the robbery. It is also suspected that Kumaraku attempted to sexually abuse her, further escalating the criminal act.

"Police forces are committed to capturing the perpetrator and are working to fully document the event. The materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Saranda Court of First Instance for further procedural actions," the State Police announced.

Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing and it is expected that there will be developments regarding the location and arrest of the suspect very soon.
