Russia's official reaction has been cautious - but what does it really

The reaction comes from Russia after Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential race.

In an interview in February this year, the Russian president said that Biden was "more predictable" than Donald Trump and called him an "old school politician".

However, those comments were seen as ironic rather than a real statement.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that "a lot can change" before the election, implying that Trump's presidency is not secure, writes Skynews

"We have to pay attention, monitor what will happen next and think about our business," he added.

Other Russian officials have been more outspoken, seeing this as an opportunity to destroy Mr. Biden's legacy.

The speaker of Russia's lower house of parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, has accused him of having "blood on his hands".

"He must be held responsible for: the war started in Ukraine; the destruction of the economies of European states; the policy of sanctions against Russia," he said.

Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has called for an investigation into what she claims was a conspiracy to cover up Mr Biden's health.

She has accused the American media of "manipulating public opinion and playing along with a political party".
