Trump optimistic that US and China will reach agreement on tariffs
Stressing his good relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping, President Donald Trump expressed optimism that the US and China will reach an agreement on tariffs, CNN writes . 

"We'll see what happens with China. We'd like to be able to make a deal. They've really taken advantage of our country for a long period of time," Trump said, blaming former presidents for what he called China destroying the United States.

"We're resuming talks and I'm sure we'll be able to get along very well. I have great respect for President Xi. He's been, in a real sense, he's been my friend for a long period of time and I think we're going to end up working on something that's very good for both countries," Trump continued.

Trump opposed China's move to reduce the number of American films shown in the country, suggesting it is a weak form of retaliation against his tariffs.
