Vucic meets Orban in Budapest

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, was hosted in a meeting in Budapest on Thursday by the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, on the eve of a session of the Strategic Council for Cooperation between the two countries.

Vucic wrote on his Instagram account that Orbani and his Government "are not only strategic and political partners of Serbia, but also sincere friends ".

Vucic's office has announced that government members will also participate in the Council session, who will sign a series of bilateral documents after the session.

This is the second session of the Strategic Council for Cooperation between Serbia and Hungary. The first was held in June 2023 in Palic, when several cooperation agreements were signed, as well as an agreement on the construction of an oil pipeline that will connect the Novi Sad refinery with Hungary.

As announced, this pipeline should be built by 2027. Serbia and Hungary also cooperate in the gas issue. In July 2023, they signed an agreement to create a joint gas trading company.

Due to the lack of its own capacities, Serbia has also rented gas storage facilities from Hungary. Vucic and Orban have repeatedly emphasized that the relations between Serbia and Hungary are at a " high and historic level" , and Orban is the main supporter of Serbia's rapid entry into the European Union.

At the same time, Serbia and Hungary maintain their relations with Beijing and Moscow, causing dissatisfaction in the European Union./ REL
