Will the scanner be removed from the Port of Durres? Rama: We may not be

Prime Minister Rama has announced the removal of the scanner from the Port of Durres, as a solution that, according to him, would reduce the number of checks.

From the meeting with business representatives at the Port of Durres, Rama admitted that this solution would be non-transparent, but there would be fewer controls to implement it.

He emphasized that these controls will only be carried out in cases of risk of smuggling.

"The state scans trucks for security reasons, for the fight against smuggling. It is the duty of the state. Given the current curriculum of your companies, the nature of your activities, your contributions as taxpayers, we will no longer operate on the basis of 100% control, but on a risk basis. Out of 100 exits from the port, only 10 cases will be scanned. It is a reasonable figure to start with and then we can move to a non-transparent scheme, but with a smaller number of controls, but still surprising. Beyond the staggering cost of this concession, it has its benefits and we must say that it has significantly reduced smuggling. Today I spoke with the director of Customs, I told him it is something to be done and as far as I know it will be signed that makes this a fact. From today, you have this type of regime", said Rama.
