Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, after admonishing Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha for touching on 'Melon's Italy', has reacted again following the debate created over the immigration agreement between Albania and Italy.

In a reaction on "X", Rama responded to journalist Eddy Wax, ironizing the reporting and saying that it is "ridiculous to create an Edi vs. Eddy story."

"My dear Eddy Wax. I completely understand that it is ridiculous to create an Eddy vs. Eddy story, but there is no place for that here," Rama wrote, adding that the quote from the interview was "deceptive enough" to be used by people with ideological interests.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the agreement with Italy will continue as long as Rome wishes.

"Ultimately, it remains unchanged: what Italy asks for from Albania, Italy gets from Albania," he said.

The debate began after Minister Hoxha's interview, where he stated that the Italy-Albania agreement on immigration is not expected to be extended beyond 2030, as by then Albania aims to be a member of the European Union.

Hoxha's statements were widely reported in the Italian media, while the Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, commented: "2030 is a long way off; let's focus on what we need to do now."

On the other hand, journalist Eddy Wax also published part of the transcript of the interview with Hoxha, where the minister stated: "There will be no extension because we will be members of the European Union."
