Montenegro rejects Vučić's accusations of hybrid war against Serbia!

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro described as unfounded the accusations that Podgorica is waging a hybrid war against Serbia, assessing that such statements reflect the lack of readiness of some political structures in Belgrade to accept Montenegro as a sovereign state.

The reaction came after claims by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić that Montenegro and its media are participating in hybrid actions against Serbia.

Through a statement posted on the X platform, the Montenegrin ministry assessed that the frequent statements from the neighboring state demonstrate the lack of willingness of some political structures to accept Montenegro as a sovereign and equal state, and not as a space that should be returned to imagined political centers.

She added that such statements usually intensify whenever Montenegro takes steps forward in the European Union membership process and when elections approach, REL informs.

"We leave it to the public to assess whether such statements should be seen as an introduction to new campaigns of disinformation and political pressure, or as an attempt to shift attention from problems that have nothing to do with Montenegro," the statement said.

The Montenegrin ministry recalled that the decision to restore Montenegro's independence is final, democratic and internationally verified in a referendum, and added that Montenegro wants the best possible relations with all neighbors, including Serbia.

However, she stressed that such relations can only be built on the basis of mutual respect and acceptance of reality, rejecting claims that Montenegro has taken territory from anyone.

Serbian Diplomacy: Certain Circles in Montenegro Act in a Hybrid Manner Against Serbia

The Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the reaction of the Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs constitutes "confirmation of the hybrid nature of the actions of certain circles in Montenegro towards political life in Serbia."

The Serbian ministry said that harsh public accusations and attempts to silence the other side represent an attempt to exert undue influence on Serbia, adding that it would be much more beneficial for relations between the two states if all open issues were resolved through institutional dialogue and diplomatic channels.

"Serbia has no claims to Montenegro and does not question its statehood, but its representatives have the right to point out phenomena that undermine good neighborly relations and the continued creation of an atmosphere in which Serbia is presented as a problem and as an excuse for internal political failures," the statement said.

Official Belgrade called for joint work on issues of interest to citizens, such as economic cooperation, infrastructure connections and strengthening mutual trust.

It was also emphasized that Serbia will continue to pursue responsible policies towards Podgorica, but that it expects the same level of respect and appreciation from the other side.

Vučić: This is a real hybrid war

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated on June 14 on Serbia's Prva Television that "the media in Montenegro have had an important role in the color revolution in Serbia, while Montenegro is waging a hybrid war against Serbia."

Asked how he sees the situation in Montenegro today, Vučić said that this is "their [Montenegrin] issue", but added that "the only thing I can talk about is Montenegro's relationship with Serbia".

"As for the relationship towards Serbia, it is absolutely the same. Not a bit better, not a bit worse. I am used to this by now. Don't forget that this relationship deteriorated even more during the development of the revolution here, because the media in Montenegro had an important role, as a platform for attacking and overthrowing the government in Serbia."

"This is a real hybrid war. Since they are talking about hybrid war, they are waging hybrid war against Serbia and everyone is participating in it, or pretending not to see that they are participating," Vučić said.
