Following the statement made to Euractiv about the Italy-Albania agreement, Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha has made a reaction.

In Platform X, Hoxha writes that when he referred to the Rama-Meloni agreement and the possibility of not extending it beyond 2030, he did not imply a decision.

According to the minister, there is a momentary reflection for which Hoxha seems to have regretted.

A journalist in Brussels asked me whether the protocol between Albania and Italy would be renewed after the end of the initial five-year period.

I responded by saying: “I’m not sure, assuming that by then Albania will be a member state of the European Union and the situation will, therefore, be different.”

This statement should in no way be interpreted as a change in Albania's position regarding the protocol.
