34 years of turmoil, the dream remains

Nga Grigels Mucollari

It's been 34 years since those cold days of December, when students and young people, intellectuals, men and women, and ordinary people came together, created the Democratic Party, broke the dictatorship, and brought pluralism and freedoms denied for four and a half decades.

How much can be said about these times, and about this political force. Endless. But I want to highlight a few things. With all the ups and downs, with all the problems, with all the failures, or failures, the DP has never lost one thing. The passion to fight evil. The unconditional confrontation with injustice, with corruption, with crime, with gangs. The dedication to the public interest.

So, the Democratic Party has always had the strength to rediscover morality, and for this reason it managed to survive many difficult moments. It is this morality that was present in my childhood in the family, in my father's vocation, and then as a teenager, instinctively, without thinking long, pushed me towards this political family. Today, I definitely analyze and reason. And I come without hesitation to the conclusion that it was the right choice.

Born in turmoil, in upheaval, the Democratic Party does not have in its essence, calmness, comfort. Always in motion, always alive. Always in protest.
Normally, with its clear, visible stances, with its uncovered or camouflaged position, with the advocacy of some conservative values, but especially with the force of denouncing bad governance and corruption and connections with crime, the DP has created quite a few enemies. There are quite a few people who do not like it.
But everyone, even the most critical, the most fanatical, the most extremist, are living, retiring and growing old, with what they prove to the Democratic Party.

It is inevitable, one cannot remain indifferent to it. Because there, with all its flaws and shortcomings, there is content, there is a project, there are ideas, there is debate, there are thoughts, there are aspirations. There is a vote, there is competition. There are dreams again.
And this is the great thing that makes me believe in this party.

I started my involvement with the Youth Forum at the age of 16 and today I am a member of the leadership. Voted. It has not been easy, nor a walk in the park.
But the most difficult years were the last ones, where the Democrats did not simply have to define a leader, a sympathy, a flow, or a way of leading. They were called upon to the challenge of maintaining, or surrendering, the party that was born in the squares of confrontation.

And the choice they made was once again a product of their courage, their will, their freedom.
After many efforts and trials, the DP survived and today it is in good spirits.
It has a spirit, it has an energy, it has an optimism, it has a revival. I believe in the Democratic Party, and this belief keeps me united with it, with its causes and goals. The coming year, I am convinced, will reward the perseverance of thousands of democrats, who kept and preserved this political force as their own creation, without any interest or plan of profit.

Simply idealistic.
It's our turn. We will win.
