Berisha in Brescia: Albanians of sacrifice never forgot the country – thank you for the magnificent reception

The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held an exciting meeting with diaspora Albanians in the city of Brescia, Italy, following the electoral campaign for the May 11 parliamentary elections.

In his opening speech, Berisha expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic reception reserved for his compatriots, calling them "sacrifice Albanians" who have never forgotten their country, despite the challenges of immigration.

Berisha: Dear compatriots of mine, present in this hall, in Brescia, in Italy and wherever you are tonight, my most cordial greetings.

We are most grateful for your presence in this hall today.

Thank you for this magnificent reception, I thank you for the spirit of victory you created, you Albanians of the diaspora in this historic campaign. The greatest honors to all of you who turned 2025 into your year, into the year of the Albanian Diaspora.

In the year of the Albanian victory over the dictatorship, their crime and theft, in the year of the salvation of Albania.

Friends, the first stop I started after the epic start of the electoral campaign two days ago in Tirana, is you, is Brescia, because this campaign we have launched is a magnificent campaign, it is hopeful, thanks to you, thanks to the Albanian diaspora, so today I am very inspired, very honored to be among you.

Because your own story is a source of inspiration. You are the Albanians of great sacrifices, the meeting with you is the meeting with the noblest sacrifice of man.

But you are the Albanians of success, of great achievements, because you came to Italy in this friendly country of Albania, as the people who suffered the most from the communist dictatorship in Europe.

You came to Italy as people before great unknowns, just like the journey of an immigrant and the Italian people, friendly Italy, offered you their generosity, their hospitality, their humanity.

Therefore, a big thank you goes to your Italian friends, to the Italian nation, Viva Italia.

Here in Italy in the beautiful city of Brescia and everywhere, you proved yourself to be true Albanians. I say this because you overcame every difficulty, you overcame every obstacle, you managed to turn into dignified citizens, hardworking people, people who started your life from scratch in this blessed country.

In a few years, you became a vital part of Italy's economy.

Like any immigrant nation, you faced prejudices, but here you are today, better, stronger, better than ever.

You worked honestly and with this work you earned respect and gratitude. But although today you have built a dignified life here in Brescia, you have never forgotten your country, you have never abandoned your homeland, your families, with your soul and heart.

You proved yourself to be true Albanians, because being Albanian means overcoming any obstacle.

Being Albanian means making the impossible possible, and above all the unquenchable love for Albania, your land, makes you Albanian.

That is why the meeting with you is the most inspiring meeting, because it is an encounter with sacrifice, with achievement and success, with the invincible Albanian spirit.
