Berisha: Albania is in an upheaval that it has never had in its history

The Chief Democrat, Sali Berisha, has today officially presented the candidate of the coalition "Bashke Fitojen" for the Municipality of Vau Dejës, Zef Hila.

 In his speech, Berisha focused on some of the problems faced by Albanians in recent years.

According to Berisha, Albania is in an upheaval that it has never had in its history, so according to him, on May 14, Albanians have the opportunity to vote for change.

Berisha : Today there is terrible poverty. Terrible economic constraints. But why is it scary, because it is always increasing. We have been poor, we have not been a prosperous nation, but from 1992 to 2008, we managed to rise from the level of low-income nations, at $200 per capita in 1992, to the level of nations with upper middle income in 2008.

What happens today? From 2014 to 2022, 35% of the residents left Vau u Dejës. From Shkodra 35% of the inhabitants, from Vlora 38% of the inhabitants, from Albania 35% of the inhabitants, so we have decreased by 1/3. Dramatically, this is a disaster. No nation has ever lost 1/3 of its population in 8 years.

In the first world war, we experienced invasions by 6 foreign powers from south to north, and we were reduced according to the most reliable statistics, from 10 to 20%. But now, mass exodus, and imagine for a moment if this continues. The next 8 years will be the same and after 16 years who will remain in Albania, how many will remain in Albania.

Albania is therefore in an upheaval that it has never had in its history. Is this an appeal that comes from the depths of this land, and when I say the depths of this land, I mean the depths of every Albanian, the heart of every Albanian, who has the least love for this country, who lives or does not live here. Let's do everything to change this situation, let's do everything to change this situation and it's in our hands.

On May 14, we have our vote to vote for change, to vote for hope, to vote for faith, to vote for ourselves, the children, for all those who have left Albania, to vote for the future in this country.
