Gjekmarkaj: PD will protest in front of the EP to denounce the political

The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Agaron Gjekmarkaj, speaking to the media in front of the SPAK building, said that the DP will go to the protest in front of the European Parliament to denounce the political persecution of Berisha

Agron Gjekmarkaj: I consider it a great injustice to call Berisha to SPAK. I am witness to the violation of the Constitution to impeach Sali Berisha. When the constitution is violated illegally, that it should never be violated in fact, it is done for political reasons and the beneficiary of this is undoubtedly Prime Minister Edi Rama and the government. It is the majority which tries to manipulate the electoral race, to introduce the opposition into the electoral process with its arrested leader. For me, it is already a prisoner of conscience, it is a great violation of the democratic political and legal standards of Albania, which is a member of NATO and which aspires to join the European Union. You see today the many people who are here, and their anger. All the democrats of Albania experience this as a great injustice, but not only democrats but every citizen who has his security in the law, in the Constitution and in justice. He feels vulnerable today.  

There is a tendency to create an equivalence between Sali Berisha and the corrupt government officials who are summoned by SPAK, after being released by the prime minister to compose the framework of a directed justice. But Sali Berisha is Sali Berisha and thieves are thieves. This is not something that can create an equivalence between him and those called by SPAK prosecutors.

I believe that the DP Parliamentary Group will not stop there. We are moving towards a decision to go as soon as possible to protest in a more peaceful and democratic way, near the European institutions in Brussels or the European Parliament.

We will do step by step every move to denounce crime and corruption in Albania that is not getting a response from the justice bodies to denounce the directed justice which selects only the leader of the opposition without evidence and without facts and we will not we return from there without talking, without having a contact, without sensitizing Democratic Europe, Brussels, the European Commission. European Parliament. And I think that we will be many members of the opposition on this trip to Europe.
