During a media conference from PL headquarters as part of "Pink October", Meta denounced that cancer patients are given medical therapy to fight the disease and then it is stopped because, as he says, there is a lack of medicine.

Meta said that the number of patients with tumor diseases in the country is increasing year after year.

" Unfortunately, the number of patients with tumor diseases is always increasing, and the second cause of death in the country, causing 16% of them, but surprisingly, scandalously, the budget for Oncology, even though tumor cases increase, comes decreased, in relation to the general budget.

There are over 6,000 new cases of tumor diseases that are registered every year in the country. The weight in the budget for the treatment of tumor diseases for 2020 was 11.7% and in the other 2 years it almost fell to 7.5%, so instead of increasing, on the contrary, it suffered a significant decrease. The need for medicines in the Health Care Center is 4 times higher. higher than the budget approved for this purpose. There is a constant lack of antitumor drugs in Oncology and Oncopediatrics, but also in other services. It is dramatic and criminal the fact that patients with tumors are given apia and then it is stopped due to the lack of drugs", said Meta.

Krue of PL also spoke about the scandal of the Oncology doctors, considering it as an indication that the health system in the country is in the worst days.

" Today's round table is convened shortly after the shocking events at the Oncology Hospital, which brought back to the center of attention the very serious problems of health, as a result of corruption, irresponsibility and mismanagement. Health, like never before in its history, today no longer has any strategic, executive, or legislative orientation to respond to everyday challenges.

"Free healthcare" turned out to be a big and treacherous fraud, as they say it is free until you enter the door of the hospital, then the situation changes. Its consequences are devastating for the system and especially for the public service, but also for the health and life of the citizens, and this was best demonstrated by the recent scandal at the Oncology Department".

The head of PL appealed to mothers and women for constant care and checks for the early detection of breast cancer, in order to protect health and life.

"It is vital for every woman and every mother to take care of herself by doing mammography, which saves lives," he said.
