PD appeals to Rama-Balla: End the provocations against the opposition, release

The Democratic Party has publicly called on Prime Minister Edi Rama and Interior Minister Taulant Balla to release the protesters arrested last night after the opposition protest.

The member of the Presidency of the DP, Belind Kelliçi, in a statement to the media, said that the staging of a crime scene, last night in front of the Prime Minister's Office, by the police-patronages of Taulant Balla, is a sign of the final degeneration of the power of Edi Rama.

Full statement:

The staging of a crime scene, last night in front of the Prime Minister's Office, by the police-patronages of Taulant Balla, is the sign of the final degeneration of the power of Edi Rama.

Hanging for several hours on the steps of the government headquarters was an act of disgust that stems from their and their bosses' hatred for free speech, civil demonstration and opposition rights.

The Democratic Party calls on Edi Rama and Taulant Balla to put an end to the provocations against the opposition, to release the protesters, to respect the rights of the civil assembly. To the policemen who are engaged in exceeding their powers and with partisan zeal in violating and arresting our protestors, we say very clearly that we know them, we know their faces and deeds and they will respond one by one, and before long!

Dear citizens,

The opposition heard your speech yesterday on the Boulevard and so did the government. The engagement of civilian policemen to intimidate, beat and arrest opposition protesters is a sign that the government is afraid of you and the opposition.

He should be afraid because his days are numbered.

The Democratic Party assures all the protesters that we will succeed. Yesterday's gathering of hundreds of thousands of Albanians is the guarantee that in this country it is the sovereign who exercises power, and those government officials in the prime minister and those policemen in uniform are only tenants in the state of the Albanians.

Taulant Balla, Muhamet Rrumbullaku and others, be careful! They tell the party zealots in the police that they do not protect anything before the law. They cannot hide and cannot receive guarantees of inviolability from those who do not even have these guarantees! Who touches the Democrats will answer one by one.

Any proceedings, detention or abuse of yesterday's protesters will receive legal and civic responses. We will take the law to the door of every abusive policeman, we will remind every offender that the interests of citizens, the right to speech and protest, cannot be negotiated with the patronages of the government.

Be careful, because the guardianship of power cannot stop the payment of the law, and when this happens, neither Edi nor Taulanti will be there to defend themselves.

Finally, once again, gratitude to all Albanians who gave a message of strength and hope yesterday. To all the protesters who were violated in their civic duty, in the heart of the protest, we say that the Democratic Party and the opposition are with them in every legal and human step.

God bless Albania, Albanians and democrats!
