Meetings in Strasbourg/ Berisha: I was the voice of Albanians in the Council of

Berisha: I returned from a trip, stay and one-day visit to Strasbourg, invited by the People's Party group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, but also the conservative democrat group in this assembly, to exchange views on the situation in Albania.
During this visit, I was received in a special meeting by the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Roussopoulos.
I met in special meetings with the parliamentary delegation to this assembly of Italy, Sweden, Greece.
I held a special meeting in the prestigious anti-torture committee in this institution.
I met numerous officials and friends.
In my political career, this institution is the first institution that I have visited as President of the Republic.
The Council of Europe is the oldest European institution after the Second World War, which has free elections, freedoms and rights of European citizens at its core.
I have had intensive relations with this institution, whether as president or prime minister, or as chairman of the largest opposition party.
The Council of Europe, with its bank and its extraordinary expertise, has provided Albania with enormous financial and technical assistance in the battle against corruption, in all the problems of local and regional autonomy, in matters of democracy.
That council, at the initiative of Sali Berisha, voted resolutions against the socialist regime when I was in opposition.
This time, after 13 years, I was there again in my home and had a very friendly and cordial reception.
It was a great pleasure that yesterday I was the voice of all Albanians in that institution, a voice that has been missing for so many years.
But I must tell you here, it was a very special pleasure, after the almost international scandal of Edi Rama, which had forced, in an unprecedented act with a European leader, the leaders of this institution to cancel the official dinner planned for the Prime Minister of Albania, since he was not worthy of this dinner. He
was not worthy, they canceled his dinner.
I am not going to dwell on his reactions after the cancellation of the dinner, which are a great shame not to mention and even more.
But now I am informing the Albanians that I was their voice there, a voice that presented to the parliamentary groups the sadly little-known truths about the Edi Rama regime, the narco-state and the narco-dictatorship in Albania. I
think it was very useful and necessary for the parliamentarians of the main parliamentary groups, such as the EPP group in this institution, to learn, with documents and irrefutable facts, the truths of the first and only narco-state in Europe, which were followed with great interest.
