Today the new school year starts.

First of all, my heartiest congratulations to all students, teachers and parents on this special day for them and the entire nation. But dear friends, the new school year 2024-2025 finds Albania empty like never before.

The number of students this year who sit in the school banks from 610 thousand that was 11 years ago is 350 thousand. The dramatic decrease in the number of students is getting bigger every year. The school year starts in conditions where over 120,000 students will learn in shifts, and over 50,000 students will learn in collective classes.

This year begins after the drop of 62 points, the largest in the world in the PISA test of the quality of education, evaluated during the 9 years of Edi Rama's government.

This year starts at a time when Albanian teachers are the most underpaid and mistreated in the region.
