Zhupa warns of lawsuits for draft decisions affecting Protected Areas
The deputy of the Democratic Party, Ina Zhupa, has reacted through a post on her official Facebook page, where she comments on the last 10 draft decisions that have passed for consultation by the Council of Ministers on protected areas, calling them one-sided and destructive.
If these project decisions are approved, the way is opened for construction and development projects in the Protected Areas.
"The first lawsuit in the Constitutional Court in September will be the one against the unilateral and destructive changes to the Protected Areas law", writes deputy Ina Zhupa in her announcement, adding that the battle will continue until the end for the protection of the interest public and national heritage.
"Kumbaro guarantees her place as a long-term minister of the Rama government precisely by serving as a kamikaze in violation of conventions, the Constitution and the public interest", Zhupa added.
Environmental activists point out that these acts remove the last obstacles for urban plans in protected areas and raise concerns that they lower the level of protection and endanger the status of these areas.
The final word on strategic investments and urban projects will be left to the main authority responsible for these areas – the National Territorial Council (NKT) – which has been designated as the body that sanctions regulations, illegal structures, and alleged strategic investments and other activities. different.
Zhupa emphasized that the National Territory Council - a collegial body headed by Prime Minister Edi Rama, will now decide where the "small points in these protected areas" will be, referring to a controversial statement by the Minister of the Environment, Mirela Kumbaro regarding the construction of a resort in Butrint.
"KKRT, it is precisely the body that gives the permits for the towers of Tirana and for the resorts and strategic investments, entirely political and directed by Rama and his ministers and directors, who will now decide where the "small points" will be in these areas of protected", Zhupa emphasized.
The MP of the opposition and at the same time the chairperson of the Commission for Education and Public Information Media stated that she strongly opposes the draft decision of the government.
"These actions confirm what we said when the law was approved that the goal is precisely the use of protected areas with a focus on construction and will be their final destruction", she concludes./ BIRN
