73 killed after Gaza ceasefire declared, Israeli bombardment intensifies

The Gaza Strip continues to burn despite the declaration of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. According to the Gaza Civil Defense, the death toll has reached 73, including 20 children and 25 women, while the number of injured is over 230.

“After the ceasefire was announced, Israeli occupation forces killed 73 people in shelling that mainly targeted Gaza City and Khan Younis,” said Mahmoud Bashar, a spokesman for the Gaza Civil Defense. He described the situation as a “major intensification” of Israeli attacks.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that a last-minute crisis with Hamas is preventing the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, which calls for a halt to fighting and the release of dozens of hostages.

The attacks in Gaza come after a tense period that has seen both sides engage in fierce clashes, causing heavy material damage and a heavy toll among the civilian population. The situation remains tense, with concerns of further escalation.
