Crack in the wall of the Sasaj hydroelectric power plant causes flooding in

A serious incident occurred this afternoon at the Sasaj hydroelectric power plant in Bunec, where the surrounding wall of the reservoir cracked, causing massive flooding in the villages of Lukovë and Bunec.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, the floods have severely damaged 12 tourist businesses and the electrical substation that supplies electricity to the areas of Lukovë and Borsh. As a result, both areas are without electricity, creating great difficulties for local residents and businesses.

The situation has worsened even further because the alternative of power supply from the Kuçi substation is impossible. This is because a month ago the portable substation that was made available to Borsh during the tourist season was removed.

Local authorities and emergency teams are on the ground, but the situation remains critical, while immediate solutions are required to restore power and mitigate the consequences of the flood.
