The Technical Committee of Experts met today to make an analysis of the current situation of Covid-19 in the country. As Prime Minister Edi Rama warned, the experts decided that the employees of the administration, markets or shopping centers should be vaccinated by December 31st.

It was also decided that any person over the age of 18 could receive the third dose, after six months have passed since receiving the second vaccine. Experts recommended banning the travel of persons who have traveled to South Africa in the last 14 days.

While Albanian citizens will be quarantined for 14 days, if they have traveled to South Africa during the last two weeks. The decision takes effect tomorrow and will last for three weeks.

New decisions:

1. Starting today, every citizen +18 years old can take the booster dose after 6 months from the second dose.

2. The Committee has decided that by December 31, all employees of public administration, employees of supermarkets and shopping centers who have not been vaccinated, to be vaccinated, as by January 4 the vaccination card or PCR test will be required negative every 5 days.

3. Given the fact that the new Omicron variant has been identified in citizens who have had travel history and contacts with South African countries, as well as the fact that the nature of the virus' aggressiveness is still unclear, measures taken by countries of other world, the Committee of Experts decided to recommend banning the entry of foreign nationals with travel history within the last 14 days in countries: South Africa, Kenya, Angola, Zambia, Boston, Senegal.
