The head of the Special Prosecution, Altin Dumani, has signed today a Memorandum of Understanding with the Head of the General Prosecution of the Kingdom of Spain, Mr. Alvaro Garcia Ortiz.

This memorandum marks another important step of SPAK, towards strengthening the fight against corruption and organized crime, inside and outside the country.

"The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is to consolidate and strengthen the relations of friendship and cooperation within the competence of each Signatory Institution, on the basis of equality, respect and mutual benefit, creating a stable framework of relations and direct communication.

This memorandum envisages a continuous commitment of the two parties to strengthen cooperation between them, but also to facilitate relations with other law enforcement agencies in increasing the fight against international organized crime.

The representatives of the two institutions expressed their deep belief that the close cooperation between them will bring concrete results in combating the activities of Albanian criminal groups in the Kingdom of Spain and in Albania, mainly in narcotics trafficking, terrorism, human trafficking, smuggling of migrants, illegal trafficking of human organs, trafficking of firearms, laundering of proceeds of crime or criminal activity, cybercrime, and other types of serious crimes, which pose a serious threat to society.

In closing, both parties expressed their willingness to immediately take concrete steps to investigate the issues and develop cooperation.

The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding was supported by EU4FOCAL, a project financed by the European Union," says the SPAK announcement.
