What happened the day Mariglen Gjonaj disappeared? The person sentenced to life imprisonment speaks from prison

In the show "With an open heart", Kristjan Cenaj, sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his friend Mariglen Gjonaj, denied being involved in the crime.

Cenaj said that he has nothing to do with the event, showing the last hours of the 16-year-old's life.

The 32-year-old explained that on the evening of the disappearance they had gone to a prom in Gore with some of their friends, but had last seen Mariglen Gjonaj in the early hours of the morning, explaining in detail what he believed to have happened before the disappearance of the 15-year-old.

Excerpt from the interview:

To be convicted after any kind of guilt or evidence, I don't know what to say. The investigations were not done in any way that fit the standards. I was interrogated when I was arrested in 2022 when I was about to flee to Italy to marry my brother. The moment I left for Italy, where I live and work, I was arrested and taken to the police station in Lezha. Then they sent me to Kurbin.

The victim and I were born and raised in the same neighborhood. We had friendly relations between the families. That day I left the house in the morning and ran to Gore where a graduation party was taking place. We went, I went alone. The moment I went, some people called me and said they had come there. Mariglen Gjonaj, the deceased, came with some of his own people who were mentioned in the file.

Like all young men who have an acquaintance with a woman, I went there. Marigleni came with some friends. During the time we were sitting, the police station of Kurbini was called because many cars had gathered. When the police came, they all dispersed, because someone was without a license or without documents, etc. When everyone left, Marigleni stayed there, while I was driving around.

I waited another hour. When we left the gymnasium of Gorre, we would run to the hotel where the evening was held. I started with 2-3 other people. When I left, I saw 2 other people, Mariglen Gjonaj and Nikolin Rica.

We went to univers hotel and stayed for about 2 hours. Marigleni begged me to send her to Shengjin, to a hotel because she wanted to meet a man from the prom. I sent it there. We have returned to the hotel universe. At the moment we returned, they were starting to run home because the prom was over.

I went for a ride with Mariglen Gjonaj and Nikoli Rica by car in Fushë-Kuqe and we went to Mamurras. On the way Nikolini wanted to stop. When we entered Mamurras, I dropped Nikoli Rica in front of an AMC point.

We went to the end of the city and I returned, near the center my car breaks down. Mariglen Gjonaj also landed there. I also got down and opened the trunk of the car. I last saw him near Mamurras around 4:30. I stopped him inside Mamurras, near the town hall. Marigleni fled to the center.

The moment I got off Marigleni, I went to the ground because my mother was ringing the phone. I took the motorcycle home and ran to the ground. I saw the grass and ran home, changed and ran to the gas station. I got fuel and came back, I also took a friend of my father's and we were at the ground until 7:30 in the evening.

When I returned home, Marigleni's brother came with some friends, his uncle came later. They came the next day asking me again to report to the police because they had lost their grandson. He asked me if I would testify. Naturally, I told him. They reported him to the police. A friend of Marigleni's uncle stated that he had seen Marigleni 2 days later in Lezhë.

I have not talked at all about his valuable watch. We talked about Rolex at the univers hotel. Security cameras could have been taken for every move. When we got down to the hotel, there were 6-7 of us and the songs started, not at the same time, not at the same time. I have not mentioned anything about the clock. When they took me to the police station, I went. The moment I entered, they handcuffed me and interrogated me. I appeal to the Gjonaj family and ask them with all their heart to look for the boy where they suspect, because I have no connection.
