The Special Court has suspended for a year the trial for the murder of former police officer Santiago Malkos. The court hearings will continue only for the arrested Ilir Selmani. The latter was arrested in Tirana some time after the murder of Santiago Malko. He is suspected of being the person who hid the traces of the crime.

Santiago Malko was assassinated on the evening of August 27, 2019. The victim was driving a "BMW X5" car in the area of ​​"Xhamllik", when he was shot with bullets.

After his murder, investigations were carried out on the past. Malko was a close friend of Ervis Martinaj, a gambling businessman. Malko was also known in the criminal file of the police as a criminal contingent and involved in several armed incidents in Tirana.
