Red card for Neuer, Bayern Munich is eliminated from the German Cup
Bayern Munich were knocked out of the German Cup by Bayer Leverkusen, who won 1-0 thanks to Nathan Tella's second-half goal after Manuel Neuer received the first red card of his 866-game career.
Neuer's dismissal brought on Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz for his Bayern debut, 18 months after joining the club, as it forced the hosts to play the remainder of the match with one man less.
Bayern, who were already without the injured Harry Kane, dominated the game despite the one-man disadvantage.
Leverkusen scored in the 69th minute, with Tella heading in Alex Grimaldo's cross.
Tella had only been on the field for eight minutes, having come on for injured striker Patrik Schick, who himself came on in the first half.
