Alket Hatija's assets confiscated, sentenced to 20 years in prison for drug

The assets of Alekt Hatija, sentenced to 20 years in prison in Italy for drug trafficking, have been confiscated.

Hatija is otherwise known as the "Drug Lord".

"Several real estate assets that were benefited from the criminal activity of citizen Alket Hatija, sentenced to 20 years in prison by Italian judicial authorities, for drug trafficking, are confiscated."

The Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Sector of the Durrës DVP, in cooperation with the Agency for the Administration of Confiscated and Sequestered Property, within the framework of the police operation codenamed "Confiscation", has executed the decision of the Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime, for the confiscation of several immovable properties which this citizen had registered in his own name and that of his family members, specifically: 1 plot of land, 1 garage and 1 apartment in Durrës, as well as 1 apartment in Kavaja.

Citizen Alket Hatija, during the period 2003-2004, committed the criminal activities of possession, sale and trafficking of the narcotic substance heroin from Albania to Italy. He trafficked from Albania to Italy, with his associates, through international transport vehicles, large quantities of drugs (around 10 kg of heroin in each case).

"The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police statement said.
