39-year-old Turkish man ends up in prison for smuggling gold to Albania

A Turkish citizen has been arrested by Tirana police for smuggling gold and gold jewelry to sell in Albania.

Approximately 455 grams of gold, as well as 35,000 euros and 16,200 dollars, gained from the sale of valuables, were seized from this citizen.

The operation codenamed "Gold" has led to the arrest of a Turkish citizen, who was involved in smuggling gold and gold jewelry to sell in Albania.

The arrested citizen, BA, 39 years old, resident of Istanbul, was caught red-handed while transporting a significant amount of gold and gold jewelry. During the search of his vehicle, which was traveling on the “5 maji” street in Tirana, the police found 455 grams of gold and gold jewelry, which were suspected to have been smuggled with the intention of selling on the Albanian market.

In addition to the valuables, the police have also seized 35,000 euros and 16,200 dollars that were found on the Turkish citizen, as well as his vehicle and mobile phone. The Turkish citizen was arrested and proceeded at large, citizen SB, 58 years old, resident of Vlora, who is suspected of having sold the valuables on behalf of BA.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, which will continue investigations to finalize legal actions against the suspects.
