Environmentalists and citizens of Vlora have risen in protest against floating TECs, which will be placed in the city's triport to produce electricity by burning oil.

From the beginning, when the government presented the plan to face the energy crisis, by producing energy through floating TECs, concerns were raised that the damage to the environment is too great.

Emphasizing the huge pollution, the protesters said that they will resist and that they will not allow energy to be produced in this type of form.

"We must be more present on this issue because it is a major issue. I, together with some colleagues here, were in the protests of 2005. The citizens of Vlora reacted strongly in that period and it is not that there was no result. We are re-establishing the Alliance for the Protection of the Bay of Vlora. In that period, we managed to stop the three planned TECs.

The resistance will continue until the Albanian government gives up the production of energy using oil. The protest was held today because this morning one of the ships arrived that has giant generators installed inside that will burn 600 tons of oil per day. It is a horror that our city does not deserve" , said one of the environmentalists present at the protest.
