Lubonja: Rama has entered the municipality with "boots", but Veliaj does not have the courage to repent

Lubonja: Rama has entered the municipality with "boots", but Veliaj

Analyst Fatos Lubonj commented on the clash between Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who has been in prison since February 10.

Invited to News 24, Lubonja said that the situation is unclear, mentioning the possibility of international intervention and political theater on Rama's part.

He added that, although Veliaj was once supported by Rama, he is now in a weak position and lacks the courage to act against the prime minister.

" When Veliaj was arrested, Rama supported him with protests. After 2-3 days he changed his position. There can be many hypotheses. One hypothesis could be theater on Rama's part, you can raise the hypothesis that internationals have intervened with Rama, who you see is making an open threat to justice. We do not know the truth, because they are completely lying to the public. Rama is very powerful, while Veliaj is weak, already arrested. Rama has entered the Municipality with "boots on his boots", has violated the Constitution and from a legal point of view, Veliaj can elect the mayor he has commanded.

Rama can dismiss Veliaj and he doesn't do that either. Therefore, we are not exactly clear about what is happening. Veliaj, even though he is Rama's soldier, has created a circle of supporters around him and has some kind of strength. I suspect that Rama got a message and found a compromise. Veliaj doesn't have the courage to make justice a penitent, to expose the leader of the gang. But, maybe he thinks he can harm Rama a little, but there still remains a big question mark as to who put Veliaj in prison, SPAK or Rama," Lubonja said.
