7 Courts of Appeal in the country are closed, lawyers warn of appeal to the 'Constitutional'
January 31 marks the last day of operation for 7 Courts of Appeal in the country.
Starting from February 1, only the Court of Appeal in Tirana will function. The 'melting' of the courts comes after the approval of the new judicial map, which was opposed amid debates, but the government decided to approve it.
The head of the Chamber of Advocates in Shkodër, Anton Kosteri, has said that they will prepare an appeal to the Constitutional Court. The lawyers of Korça and Vlora will follow the same action.
"The reaction will now be only in legal terms, we have prepared a request to take it to the Constitutional Court, which will be represented by the Albanian Bar Association. Everyone understands very well the consequences of going for trials from Korça to Tirana. We are not only talking about the lawyer, but we are talking about all the people who will have legal conflicts" , he said.
The operation of only one Court of Appeal will be high cost for citizens due to the long distance of residence in some areas. Only the administrative procedures will be carried out in the districts, while the trial of the cases will take place in Tirana.
