The Greek minister meeting with Fredi Beleri, the lights go out in the detention

Greek Minister of State Stavros Papastavrou met today the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, who has been in custody for several months.

It is learned that during the meeting in custody, the electricity was cut off.

After the meeting, Papastavrou spoke to the media, where he repeated that the judiciary must do justice as he calls Beler's arrest unjust.

"I came to visit the mayor of Himara, who has been in prison here for 7 months. Unfortunately, in Himara, the decision of the sovereign on the vote is still not being implemented. Himara is the only municipality in Europe where the lost mayor continues to lead the municipality and the elected mayor the right to be elected is denied", said the Greek minister.

We stand by Fredi Beleri for a fair trial and we want the presumption of his innocence to be respected by Albanian justice. A solution must be found within the framework of European law and the rule of law and the European dream to return to normality in the municipality of Himara," Minister Papastavrou continued.
