Doctor Ilir Alimehmeti has sounded the alarm that heart diseases are the first to threaten Albanians.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, the doctor said that 50% of all deaths are caused by circulatory diseases.
" 13 thousand and 82 deaths per year are caused by these problems, and 36 deaths per day are just death, not morbidity," said the doctor.
After cardiac problems, in second and third place are deaths from unspecified causes and tumors.
"It is interesting to note that 23.3% of the loss of life is without well-defined causes. It is incomprehensible that 1 in 5 loss of life we do not have information why he lost his life, many different situations can be hidden here, therefore this number is higher. Tumors come in third place," said Alihmehmeti.
