The police refuse the freedom of Saimir Kushova's associate

A 34-year-old Albanian woman, arrested in Norway, together with 5 other people, suspected of taking 150 kg of cocaine from a ship, was granted freedom by the Court but was refused by the police.

She was sentenced to 4 years and 9 months in prison, as part of the group in which 47-year-old polumbari Saimir Kushova was also arrested, already sentenced to 10 years and 4 months in prison.

In fact, the Albanian turns out to be a close associate of Kushova in his business in Albania, but also in joint trips to Europe, until they arrived in Norway to extract the cocaine coming from Brazil with the ship "Nordloire".

Finally, according to Norwegian media, about two weeks ago, the District Court concluded that her further detention is a disproportionate interference. The court stated that even if the woman does not appear in the appeal case, this will probably have no effect on the proceedings or the other defendants, and because she is the mother of young children, it agreed to her release.

The court also stated that the Albanian woman had a relatively peripheral role in the drug case.

She herself explained that she joined the trip with Saimir Kushova because she knew English and had to interpret and that she had no idea what would happen by the water in Husnes.

What was highlighted most during the hearing was the woman's mental health and a difficult childcare situation in her country.

But the Norwegian police refused to release her. She was further imprisoned, says police lawyer Jørgen Henriksen. Thus, she must agree to stay behind bars and wait until the appeal case in mid-February.
