He introduced himself as a Greek, the Albanian drug boss is arrested in Madrid
Haredin Fejzulla, a 58-year-old Albanian, sentenced by the Belgian authorities to 29 years in prison, has been arrested by the National Police in Madrid.
The Spanish police operation in Madrid's Carabanchel district resulted in the arrest of 10 people, including Haredin Fejzulla, who is accused of running a Belgium-based criminal gang involved in the cultivation and trafficking of cannabis. This organization had accumulated a fortune of over four million euros from illegal activities.
In 2022, the Brussels Court sentenced Fejzulla to 29 years in prison for a series of crimes, but he managed to escape after the verdict was announced. Spanish police launched investigations in January 2023, suspecting he was hiding in Madrid. Fejzulla had taken strict security measures to avoid capture, frequently changing locations and means of transport, as well as mobile phones.
The arrest was made on Thursday, when the police located him near a van that had come to pick him up at one of his retreats. The warrant for his arrest was issued by Belgian authorities, where he was convicted of 13 crimes involving drug trafficking, participation in a criminal organization and forgery of documents, committed between 2014 and 2018.
Fejzulla is now in the custody of the Spanish authorities and has been made available to the Central Investigative Court, which will decide on his extradition to Belgium. The criminal network he ran had an organized structure, with him at the top, while at the lower levels there were gardeners, logistics managers and employees who took care of money collection and cleaning.
