Kilometer queues in Kakavija, Meta appeals to the local and Greek authorities: Avoid the humanitarian crisis!
The chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has reacted to the situation at the border point of Kakavija, where hundreds of citizens are waiting in line. He says that every Albanian deserves to be treated with dignity and not as a person without a state or homeland.
Meta calls on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take measures to facilitate the movement of Albanians.
He emphasizes that a humanitarian crisis must be avoided, while he asks the Greek authorities, in respect of the spirit of good neighborliness, to do everything to avoid unacceptable situations, the images of which shame both our countries.
We recall that in August 2020, a 10-year-old had a fatal accident while waiting to cross the border with his family.
"I urgently call on the Government and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to immediately establish contacts with the Greek side, to take all effective measures to facilitate and guarantee the free movement of citizens at the border crossing points. The return of kilometer queues in Kakavija is unacceptable!
I ask the responsible state authorities to immediately stop the holidays, stand up and take all appropriate and possible measures to never repeat the humanitarian crises in Kakavija, where thousands of Albanian immigrants and citizens, children and the elderly were left abandoned. and in extremely difficult conditions, but at least inform the citizens in time and transparently about any delay.
I also encourage the Greek authorities, respecting the spirit of good neighborliness and traditional close relations, to do everything to avoid unacceptable situations and humanitarian crises at the border crossing points, the images of which shame both our countries." , it is said, among other things, in Meta's reaction.
