The Albanian mafia is considered among the most dangerous in Italian territory, according to an anti-mafia report. 

In the report of the Antimafia Investigation Directorate (DIA), it is said that Albanian criminal organizations constitute a high risk and a significant presence in illegal activities, in particular in drug trafficking. 
This report has analyzed the situation for the first 6 months of 2023.

 According to the director of the DIA, Michele Carbone, on the sidelines of the presentation of the report on the activity carried out in the first half of 2023, Italy has returned to danger for the officials.  

" This is especially true where corruption does not occur. There are episodes of collusion in the political-administrative apparatus, as evidenced by the long series of municipal councils dissolved due to mafia infiltration ," he said.

"Drug trafficking still represents the most profitable criminal business, still the backbone of all mafias,"  explained Carbone.

"According to data from a recent report by the American multinational Nasdaq, drug trafficking is by far the crime that contributes mainly to global illicit financial flows, to the laundering of dirty money, we are talking about 780 billion dollars from a global. Value of the criminal business of 3 thousand and 100 billion dollars, we can compare this figure with what the Italian public debt will be according to an estimate for the year 2025 ", General Carbone explained.
