RAI3 report/ Giorgo Mottola: Ahmetaj showed only the "tip of the

The Italian journalist and author of the report on RAI3, Giorgo Mottola spoke after the publication of the report where he denounced the involvement of the Albanian government in organized crime.

On Syri TV, Mottola said that the mafia in Italy was fought only by verifying the data of the repentants.

According to him, justice in Albania should work so that the former deputy prime minister Arben Ahmetaj turns into a repentant person and all his testimonies are verified.

"I hope that Ahmetaj is not threatened, but I know that he is in a free country like Switzerland and has applied for asylum. I believe that he meets the conditions to benefit from asylum but he has only shown us the surface of what he knows as he is just the tip of the iceberg.

I believe that a good journalist gives all the news he has because if he keeps it in a drawer he will use it for other things that are related to journalism, but in that conversation I had with him, they were all there that were broadcast.

In Ahmetaj's confession about his relations with Rama and the government, he thinks that he has woken up and has become aware of what was happening before his eyes. When a man starts talking like in the case of Ahmetaj when there is an arrest request for him, this repentance is forced because he has been his right hand for years. Rama did not legitimize Ahmetaj's statement.

In Italy, the whole system of the fight against the mafia was strong and the role of the penitents made it possible for the state to really fight the mafia and Ahmetaj's statement should be verified, let's start with the truth and should not be immediately legitimized, this is in interest of democracy ," said the Italian journalist.
