The plan to turn government residences in Vlora and Velipojë into luxury international brand hotels has taken a step forward.

The Albanian Investment Corporation announced this week the list of companies that have expressed interest in developing these two state-owned properties through a program that the government has begun implementing in a series of projects.

Specifically, for the contract "For the reconceptualization of government residences into elite accommodation structures, Vila Velipojë", which is part of the "Hospitality" sub-project, three companies have expressed interest and after verification of the documents, all three have moved on to the second phase. These are the companies:

Meanwhile, for the contract "For the reconceptualization of government residences into elite accommodation structures, Vila Vlorë" as part of the "Hospitality" sub-project, five companies have expressed interest, of which four have qualified for the second phase:

1. "Blu Horizont 2005" Ltd.

2. “Soleil and Sea” Ltd.

3. Merger of the Entities “2A Group shpk”, “Practica Arquitectura y Urbanismo SLP”, “Barclay Crousse”, “Tharm Architects”, Brand Company “Swiss Diamond Group SA”

4. Merger of the Entities “Edil-Al-IT Company & Zdrava Company”.

In the second phase, where the selection of the winning candidate will take place, the companies must submit a proposal containing two parts, the architectural project idea (envelope 1) and the financial offer (envelope 2).

How will the residencies in Vlora and Velipojë develop?

The government villas in Vlora and the one in Velipojë will be turned into luxury hotels.

"This project aims to transform these residences from depreciated and unused structures into contemporary centers of elite tourism and economic development. By preserving the historical values ​​of the use of these properties, the re-conceptualization will bring harmony between the past and the future, giving importance not only to innovation, but also to the preservation of their identity."

"The government residences will incorporate the highest standards of contemporary hospitality, supported by the most advanced technologies and contemporary design. Their transformation aims to create a unique experience for tourists, investors and VIPs, turning them into models of economic and environmental sustainability," the call documents underline.

The area where the project will be developed includes firstly the Government Residence "Villa no. 2" with a building area of ​​1126 m². The Government Residence "Villa no. 6" with a building area of ​​332.48 m² and the third Government Residence "Villa no. 9" with a building area of ​​186 m².

In total, the competition area: 1,644.7 m². Meanwhile, regarding the residence in Velipojë, the documents specify that this competition aims to generate innovative ideas and proposals for the transformation of the residence into elite accommodation structures, creating modern and sustainable destinations that meet the highest international standards of luxury.

Referring to the data that has been made public, this property is a total of 8100 square meters, including the building. The property data is: Government Residence “Vila Velipoje”, Shkodër, Cadastral Zone no. 3072, property type “Building + Land”, property number: 5, Building footprint area 1200 m² + Land area 8100 m².
