The Supreme Court has overturned the decision of the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime regarding the conviction of Festim Bexhdili and Olsi Turja for the kidnapping and murder of Jan Prenga.

The trial panel composed of Sokol Binaj, Albana Boksi and Sandër Simoni decided to return the case for reconsideration to the same court, but with a different panel.

On March 20, 2023, the Special Appeal upheld the decision of the first instance for the punishment of Festim Bixhdili, the gardener of the 'Golden' complex, as well as for Olsi Turja. Festim Bexhdili was sentenced by the first degree to life imprisonment. While Olsi Turjan sentenced him to 3 years in prison for the criminal offense "Actions that prevent the discovery of the truth" committed in collaboration, but the sentence was considered completed, since for a long time he was under house arrest.

Prenga was kidnapped on January 17, 2020 in Kamez, then killed, but his body has not yet been found.
