The Ersekë-Leskovik road is almost impassable, BIRN: How the infrastructure is holding tourism in southeast Albania hostage

On the route of the national road segment Erseke - Leskovik, a construction company is working to restore normality in its most damaged part. However, drivers try to avoid passing through this axis, preferring the longer route via the highways of central Albania.

Erseke-Leskovik road 42 km almost impassable

"No, no, I don't advise you to go through Leskovik - said Artani, a young man from Përmet. On Valentine's Day, I went to Korça, I regretted it. The road is for a black page - he added for BIRN.

Artani adds that in winter the streams can overflow, blocking traffic. Uncertainty of vehicle movement has negatively affected the tourism links of southeastern cities, as tour guides do not want to risk the transportation of local or foreign travelers.

Vasili, who manages one of the hotels in the center of Përmet, told BIRN that foreigners have information about the proximity to Korça, 130 km in total, and want to know the area and cross it.

"A large group of journalists visited Përmet a month ago. They traveled by bus, and it took them more than 4 hours to reach Erseka - said Vasili. Shpëtim Canka did the same thing as the journalists, who, together with his relatives, arrived from Leskovik to Erseke in two hours.

"I am originally from Përmet and I often come to the land of my ancestors. Then, from time to time I continue to Korçë, after I have also visited the historical and natural monuments of the area - said the middle-aged man from Durrës, adding: What is the point of returning to Rrogozhinë to then head to Pogradec or Korçë.

From Përmet to Leskovik, the road rebuilt in recent years as well as the parking lots make the journey quite pleasant, with the Vjosë river and Nëmërcka Mountain on the same side.

The situation changes when you enter the villages of Kolonje, where the number of vehicles on the road does not exceed the fingers of one hand.

Infrastruktura turistike nuk mbaron me rrugën

Rruga Ersekë – Leskovik, që pritet të përfundojë vitin e ardhshëm, do ti shërbejë rizgjimit të turizmit dhe komunikimit ekonomik në këtë territor, ku bashkohen edhe disa nga nyjet ndërkombëtare me fqinjin jugor, Greqinë.

Por, ndërsa Korça dhe Pogradeci kanë filluar ta shfrytëzojnë turizmin, si një element të rëndësishëm punësimi dhe mirëqënieje, qytetet e jugut kanë nevojë për ritme më të larta në zgjidhjen e problematikave të infrastrukturës.

“Nga tre kishat pranë Përmetit që i dedikohen Shën Marisë, vetëm në njërën prej tyre, në atë të Kosinës mbërrin me automjet – shprehet Johan Nako, i cili administron një bujtinë.

Kishat mesjetare të Leusës dhe të Bënjës janë të parritshme me autoveturë, megjithëse ndodhen shumë afër rrugës së asfaltuar.

Të shpallura “Monument kulture” objektet e kultit pranë Përmetit aktualisht mund të vizitohen vetëm nëse nisesh në këmbë drejt tyre. Edhe në Bual, ku një mësues i pasionuar ka ngritur një muze me elemente folklorike turistët mund të mbërrijnë vetëm në këmbë.
