Russia worried about 'Greater Albania': We condemn the silence of the

Moscow fully "shares" the "concern" for the fanaticism of some in Pristina and Tirana and their intention to create the so-called "Greater Albania" through the unification of the "two Albanian states" in the Balkans, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

These "plans" can only be described as subversive. "Any covert border review in the region is fundamentally catastrophic for the already fragile stability in this part of Europe, where much remains to be done to overcome the effects of the conflicts and wars of the 1990s," said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. for CNN Greece .

He added that a lasting solution to the Kosovo problem is possible only on the basis of international law, in particular UN Security Council Resolution 1244, which guarantees, inter alia, the territorial integrity of Serbia with the Autonomous Province. of Kosovo and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

"Especially in terms of this document, the Belgrade-Pristina talks can and should take place," the Russian Foreign Minister continued, adding that their result should be a long-term solution, which will satisfy the Serbian side and will receive the approval of the UN Security Council ”.

Russian diplomacy claims that "Pristina's leadership must understand that its provocative efforts to convince the rest of the world of the stability of the 'infamous state of Kosovo' are doomed to fail from the outset, while nurturing Albanian nationalism and chauvinism. Systematic repression of the Serb and other non-Albanian population, the persecution of the Serbian Orthodox Church testifies to the bankruptcy of this plan ”.

Russian diplomats also speak harshly about the West's stance, saying that "the West's silence is not surprising, but it is a symptom of the blind satisfaction of the whims of Albanian-Kosovar extremists by their foreign defenders."
