Prosecutor Dritan Gripshi is dismissed from office

The Independent Qualification Commission dismisses the prosecutor of the Berat prosecution, Dritan Gripshi. The reason for his dismissal was the problems in the financial criteria.

The decision to dismiss Gripsh was taken by the jury chaired by Genta Tafa Bungo, with rapporteur Suela Zhegun and member Roland Ilian. During the hearing, Gripshi gave clarifications about the sources of the wealth, giving the relevant evidence that, according to him, clarified the financial position. However, the judging panel after reviewing the documentation sealed his dismissal.

During today's session, after the communication of the decision, Gripshi reacted, stressing that the evidence submitted by him had no value.

Dritan Gripshi started his career in the justice system in 1996 and worked as a prosecutor in Elbasan and Durrës, before being appointed to the Berat Prosecutor's Office in 2008. Gripshi was dismissed from office in 2010 by decree of the then President motivation of "behaviour that discredits the figure of the prosecutor", but he subsequently won a court case against the dismissal decision and was reinstated in 2015.
