Albanian man caught with drugs sentenced to 6 years in prison in Italy

A 27-year-old Albanian man has been sentenced to six years and four months, after being previously arrested by Italian police last March after 260 grams of cocaine, 350 grams of marijuana and almost 25 thousand euros in cash were found on him.

27-year-old Rrok Macaj was identified by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of the operational department, who had been keeping him under surveillance for some time.

On the evening of March 15, 2024, the police located him near the Villa Potenza sports field and stopped him for a search.

According to the prosecution, the search revealed approximately four grams of cocaine, divided into five packages ready to be sold.

The Carabinieri had also searched his apartment in the city center. There, they also found 260 grams of cocaine, 350 grams of marijuana, and the sum of 25,400 euros, which are believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.

The lawyer defending the 27-year-old, Andrea Albanesi, had requested that the trial be held in a shortened procedure and yesterday the judge of the Macerata court, Claudio Bonifazi, sentenced him to six years and four months.
