The Albanian murderer in the British prison goes viral, "Babalja" flirts with women on TikTok

The Albanian murderer in the British prison goes viral, "Babalja"

An Albanian criminal has gone viral online after broadcasting live videos from his UK prison cell on TikTok, in which he flirts with girls and plays online games with criminals in other prisons.

Eugert Merizaj, sentenced to 32 years in prison for his role in the shotgun death of a drug rival, is receiving virtual 'gifts' donated to him via TikTok by admirers, which he can exchange for cash.

Despite the ban on cell phones in prison, Merizaj has been broadcasting five-minute live chats every day for the past few weeks.

In a breach of security, he boasted that his phone had been dropped into his Manchester prison by drone and that he hides it inside a toilet.

Merizaj said that if his phone was discovered by prison officers, he would simply 'buy another one'. He claimed it is the third phone he has used in prison, each costing him £2,000.

In one video he appears to have blocked the window of his cell door with paper to stop prison officers looking in, while in another he showed his 8,000 followers images of security fences outside his cell.

Earlier this month, Merizaj, who goes by the alias 'Babale', and another inmate, who calls himself Cameron, were seen flirting with a 21-year-old girl.

Merizaj also uses a feature called 'Live Match' on TikTok to communicate with friends outside prison - and also to make small sums.
