The murder of Ardian Nikulaj, the hearing for Ruben Saraiva is postponed

The Portuguese Ruben Saraiva, accused of murdering the Lezha businessman Ardian Nikulaj, appeared on Wednesday morning in front of the Lezha court, where he requested the replacement of the security measure against him.

He is asking for a more lenient measure, claiming that a long period of time has passed and the case has not yet gone to trial.

The session was postponed to October 16, since according to his lawyer Kujtim Cakrani, the prosecution has not proceeded with the case. According to Cakran, the evidence presented is not sufficient for his implication in this case.

"We are in court for replacing the security measure against Ruben Saraiva and for the two-month report that the prosecutor should submit to the court.

I bring to your attention that this is a very delicate issue, where the prosecution has not proceeded with the investigations since April 2023 and so I, as a legal representative, asked the court to replace the security measure against this citizen since there is no evidence and fact that prove that this person has committed the criminal offense. We are stuck here.

This session was postponed due to the absence of the interpreter and will be with 16 at the same time for the court session. The prosecutor has not brought any other additional evidence and I hope that the case will be resolved," said the lawyer.

Saraiva continues to maintain the same position in front of the black squads, and has also stated that she will be ready for Albanian justice.

We recall that businessman Ardian Nikulaj was killed on April 19, 2023 while he was drinking coffee in his bar in Shengjin. According to the investigations, it turned out that the murder was ordered by Edmond Haxhia. Ruben Saraiva played the role of executioner while the British, Stephen Hunt, Thomas Mithan, Harriet Bridgeman, and for Harry Simpson were the observers.
