The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal filed by Ruhan Hiraj, a member of the organized criminal group known as the "Fire Group." Hiraj was sentenced by the Special Appeal to 15 years in prison for the murder of the RENEA officer, Ibrahim Basha, an event that happened 9 years ago.
The panel of judges composed of Ilir Panda, Albana Boksi and Sandër Simoni did not accept Hiraj's request for the review of the decision given by the Special Appeal on February 18, 2021.
In June 2015, RENEA officer Ibrahim Basha was shot dead in Lazarat, and his two colleagues, Jetmir Isaj and Perlat Shpati, were injured. At midnight on June 24 of that year, several groups of police encountered a Benz type vehicle in Lazarat, which was filled with narcotics and an arsenal of weapons.
