Mark Samson, the 23-year-old accused of murdering Albanian student Ilaria Sula in Italy, has written a letter to the victim's parents.

Italian media write that the 23-year-old apologizes for his actions, stating that at the moment of the serious incident he lost control.

"I am Mark Samson and I am writing from my cell where I will remain for several years. Every day I think about the cruel crime I committed and I do not know what to say, but most of all I do not know what has happened to me. It is banal to apologize for the pain I have caused, but I want to apologize to Ilaria. I have gone crazy with grief and I have lost control. I am aware that nothing I can say or do today will ease the pain of my family even a little. I am not trying to reduce my responsibilities or escape the consequences of my actions. I am ready to pay for my sins without any excuse. MS.", his letter reads.

Ilaria's parents, the entire family, and her brother do not accept the apology.
